Hallo, this time we found an amazing model from Mathew, https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-baby-sword-rattle-20352, and we decided it was worth a try to print such nice toy.
Here is the list of the filaments used with some photos:
After selecting the filaments the slicing was performed in PrusaSlicer 2.0.
The blade, the hilt and the peas were printed together. All of them at 0.15 mm Quality Profile, with Prusa PLA filament profile. There is no real need for supports but we found that the small guide inside the blade was detaching after the first few layers and causing everything to fail. The addition of the brim and the support helped maintain everything in place. There is minimal amount of support created and it can be removed very easily.
At some point during the blade print it is needed to pause it and insert the peas so that they are securely kept inside. After dropping the peas in the print is restarted without any problem.
The Pommel and handle were printed separatedly:
Post processing for the whole print was minimal, basically just removing some fine stringing that was noticeable in the blade and in the hilt, nothing more. The assembly was straight forward, it immediately looked amazing!
And the final result was very nice! An amazing toy and very easy to print.
